Andamooka Community Health Service

Andamooka, South Australia.

The Andamooka Community Health Centre was opened in 1965 and is staffed by two Remote Area Nurses. It is situated in the opal fields some 500 to 600 kilometres from Adelaide in South Australia.

The population is approximately 1000 people. Once a stable multi-cultural community made up mainly of opal miners, it is being impacted by the developments at Olympic Dam.

The Andamooka Community Health Centre is staffed by two Remote Area Nurses on a rotating basis. The Andamooka clinic serves the surrounding district with health support and health promotion events.

Patients can be taken or sent to Roxby Downs (approximately 35kms away) if necessary, but the primary health care needs of the community are met and managed by the health centre.
