The power of compassion in the Outback

The power of compassion in the Outback

Offering care and support to people in need can be truly life-changing. Showing compassion in this way helps build authentic connections and provides support that goes far beyond what is expected of us. Being present and showing that we care has the power to lift spirits and enhance wellbeing for both the person giving and the person receiving support.

In the latest edition of Frontier News, you’ll hear from carers from all walks of life who are united in a common mission to stand with people in the bush. As you delve into this edition, you’ll find stories that truly embody the sentiment, “It’s the people who make it special” – a phrase that reflects the resilience and strength of the people in the bush, the incredible efforts of our Outback Links volunteers, and the immense difference your support makes in remote communities.

You’ll read inspiring stories of Outback Links volunteers Therese and Clive, who found friendship with support recipient Marianne spanning over 746km.

You’ll see the unique contributions of our Bush Chaplains and the outback communities they serve. From Jill Doolan’s work with the next generation in Central Australia to Ric Payne’s vital efforts in Mid West, WA, and Gary Ferguson’s reflections on his ten-year journey as a Bush Chaplain in South Australia, each of their stories celebrates the power of your kindness.

Additionally, you’ll learn about our recent Outback Links trip to Kiah and Towamba, where our team provided much-needed support to residents still recovering from the Black Summer bushfires.

Read and be inspired

The stories you’ll read highlight how your wonderful support goes beyond providing physical assistance, supporting the emotional and social well-being of entire communities and fostering a sense of security, companionship, and dignity. From traveling hundreds of kilometers a day for one visit to volunteering time to help a remote farmer with cleaning and cooking, compassion is at the core of everything our people do to care for others.

Thank you for your continued generosity and compassion. Together, we’re making a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most. In the same spirit as the stories you read in Frontier News, you show your own wonderful compassion by supporting our work. Without your generosity and kindness, we simply couldn’t continue to do what we do for people in the bush. So, I’d like to thank you as well.
