Can you help bushfire affected families?
Bushfire affected families need your help. Bushfires are ravaging much of Australia. Homes are being lost. Livelihoods destroyed. And families displaced.
“We can’t go home as the mountains are closed and roads have been cut off. There are 4,000 folk huddled on the beach.”
~ Rev Rowena Harris
Our Bush Chaplain, Rev Rowena Harris and 4,000 other people have been trapped in the Victorian town of Mallacoota by bushfires. As they await evacuation, Rowena is tirelessly providing trauma counselling to families who have lost their homes. But there are more people in need of our help.
We are desperate to resource another Bush Chaplain to support Rowena and the Gippsland community as countless more bushfire affected families in our High Country Remote Area lose their homes. And these same families will need emergency relief.
Your tax-deductible gift today will ensure bushfire-affected families in the Greater Gippsland Region have access to counselling and support, as well as emergency relief at a time when they have nothing else. Can you help?
“We looked into the face of hell and survived. The skies turned black and red for several hours.”
Evacuated on New Year’s Eve:
Rev Rowena Harris (pictured) and others waited on the beach at Mallacoota for 6 hours, with blankets to protect against wind and embers.
On New Year’s Day, sixty-seven (67) homes around Mallacoota were lost to bushfire. By the following week, that number had risen closer to one hundred…
How your donations will help
Our first priority is to fund a relief Bush Chaplain to provide additional trauma counselling. Additional funds received will be used to provide emergency relief (disbursed by our Bush Chaplains).
Your gift today will bring people hope during a very dark time. It will show them that there are people who care. Thank you.
