Frontier Services family reunites

IMG 1622Stories were retold and friends reunited as the Frontier Services family came together last night at the Centenary Staff Reunion dinner.

About 100 former staff, volunteers and supporters of the Australian Inland Mission (AIM) and Frontier Services travelled from all parts of the country to be there for this special Centenary reunion at the Geelong College.

The gathering included people who had worked for the AIM as long as 50 years ago and people from every decade since then. The group consisted of former patrol padres and ministers, children’s services staff, nurses, managers, Outback Links volunteers, long-time supporters as well as the 230 current Frontier Services staff gathered in Geelong for the National Staff Conference.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the Frontier Services extended family to come together and celebrate 100 years of service.

Singer Danny Hooper, another long-time friend of Frontier Services, provided entertainment and ensured the dance floor was full for much of the night.

Earlier in the day, Frontier Services staff had the opportunity to visit Narana Creations, which is part of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, (UAICC), which like Frontier Services is an agency of the Uniting Church.

Staff had the opportunity to see the arts and craft at the centre and to hear about how Narana works to empowers Indigenous people and create a shared understanding of Indigenous culture.

A highlight of the visit was the creation of a mural. Staff were invited to add to the painting a symbol of themselves and their experience of the National Conference. An artist will finish the painting by filling the centre of the mural, drawing on the work of the staff as her inspiration.
