Since starting at Frontier Services late last month, the new Residential Care Manager, Julie Crack has been busy visiting the 11 aged care services which she will oversee as a part of her role. Julie’s experience is wide and varied, both professionally and geographically. After five years living in the Central Desert, Julie and her husband Geoff settled in Tasmania, where Julie continued travelling back to the Central Desert for locum roles. Her experience in the challenges of providing health care in remote locations and of being part of the community in isolated regions will be invaluable for her new role which oversees some of the most remote residential aged care services in Australia.

Julie has a background in nursing management, education at the University of Tasmania and TAFE specifically in the areas of aged care, as well as Indigenous and rural and remote health. This knowledge base, as well as her work in neurological support services with the Department of Medicine Launceston General Hospital, provides her with an excellent grounding to address the unique nature and needs of Frontier Services’ residential aged care services in the Northern Territory and the northern part of Western Australia which she will be managing.

With experience spanning more than forty years including general nursing, midwifery, aged care and teaching, Julie is committed to creating well run aged care facilities which give the highest quality care for their clients.

“Even though there will be some unique challenges for me, I feel very positive about using my experience in aged care to manage these services. After recently visiting the services and having met the staff, what hit me most was their dedication and commitment.”

Julie’s husband Geoff and three children Emma, Ellisa and Tim reside in Tasmania where Jeff works as a University Lecturer.
