Geoff Bond: The foundation of our enduring volunteer network

Meet Geoff Bond, a beacon of compassion and generosity in the Outback Links’ volunteer program. Geoff’s commitment spans an incredible 44 placements across 29 diverse properties. This covers approximately 68,000 kilometers, each journey and is a testament to his dedication.

As Geoff shares, “When I volunteer my time, I’m there on behalf of everyone, extending helping hands, a warm embrace, and a generous spirit.”

His presence brings profound solace to those he visits, often leaving them overwhelmed by the care from individuals afar. Geoff believes in the power of presence, acknowledging that the simple act of being there can make an immeasurable difference in people’s lives.

Recognised with the NSW Senior Volunteer award for the Mid-North Coast, Geoff emphasises that volunteering transcends specific skills. “Everyone has something to offer; it’s about being present.” His background in accounting didn’t limit his contribution; instead, it opened doors to learning practical skills crucial to rural communities.

From cleaning and painting to working with animals and farming, Geoff’s experiences echo a sentiment of perpetual learning and giving back. He sees every trip as an opportunity to absorb new skills and, in turn, pass on knowledge to fellow volunteers.
