Kimberley Patrol

Kununurra, WA.

For many years patrol ministry has been conducted in the Kimberley region. The patrol base has shifted from time to time and the area has sometimes been divided into different sections.

In 2012, a new Patrol Minister will work from Kununurra across to Derby including Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing and their surrounding properties, and north to the coast. This is a huge area and includes some very rugged country. There are a number of cattle properties and tourism ventures in the region as well as a significant community and agricultural and irrigation pursuits around Kununurra.

Changing ownership of properties and variable seasons, as well as government decision making, combine to create significant movement of individuals and families.

Frontier Services also conducts community services out of Kununurra and the Patrol Minister supports the staff engaged in these services.

At present the role does not include formal ministry to a Uniting Church congregation, as these folk worship in the local Anglican Church.

Isolated Children’s and Parents’ Association activities as well as School of Isolated and Distance Education programs provide contacts for the Patrol Minister with a number of families across the region.
