Adelaide Show finishes on a high

Axeman of the yearThe Royal Adelaide Show finished on a high when it wrapped up for another year last week.

Associate National Director David Buxton was at the Show to present the major titles at the woodcutting events – Axeman of the Year and Junior Axeman of the year. This title was awarded to the competitor who achieved the best result across all of the events throughout the two weeks.

The winner of the major title received a framed photo taken by John Flynn from the Australian Inland Mission Collection of a tree felled, 7ft in diameter, in Beech Forest, in the Otway Ranges region of Victoria.

Frontier Services is proud to be a part of these events and to see our promising young athletes rise through the ranks each year. It has been fantastic to see the progression of those who first participated in Frontier Services-sponsored events as juniors who are now leaders in their sport.

The Message of Support campaign was a success with over a hundred people sending their ‘message of support’ to the people of remote Australia from the Adelaide Show. The messages are a way of expressing how much we value the people of remote Australia and the contribution they make to the nation as a whole. All the Messages of Support photos can be found on the Frontier Services Facebook page.

Each year the Adelaide Show presents an opportunity to share with people the ways Frontier Services supports people who live in remote areas through a range of services including children’s services, aged and community care, health care, pastoral support and volunteer assistance. It has been heartening to see how much people appreciate the work we do.

If you were not able to attend the Adelaide Show, you can still send a message of support. Write your message on a piece of paper and take a photo of yourself holding that message. Then upload the photo at www.supportremoteaustralia.com.au
