Today, Frontier Services says farewell to its National Director Rosemary Young. We thank Rosemary for her tireless service to and great compassion for the people of remote Australia. Through her guidance and leadership over the past 18 years, Rosemary has ensured that, 100 years on, John Flynn’s ‘mantle of safety’ continues to make a real difference for people at the heart of remote Australia.

We wanted to share with you her final letter to Frontier Services friends and family.

Dear Friends,

I cannot overstate how privileged I have been to be part of the life of both the Assembly and Frontier Services for 18 years, first as Community Services Manager and then as National Director, but it is time to move on.

I am confident now that a new chapter is about to begin and I move on knowing that, across the nation, we have the most amazing, wonderful, committed and dedicated staff – making a difference every day in the lives of tens of thousands of people who would otherwise be even more disadvantaged by distance.

I do so knowing that they are supported by the extraordinary generosity of thousands of others whose prayers, funds and

physical endeavour support the organisation in so many ways.

My predecessors would be very proud of the ministry and community services which sustain community today, and I am too.

I cannot say how much I have valued your support, your friendship, your hospitality, your loyalty, your good humour and the contribution you make every day to the people of remote Australia.

I have been humbled and privileged to have had the opportunity to be part of such an extraordinary outworking of mission and I rejoice in the Uniting Church’s continued commitment to the people of remote Australia.

I will continue to support the wonderful work of Frontier Services and I urge you to do the same. You will continue always to be in my thoughts and prayers.
